A Thrill of Hope
Childbirth Ministries
What was the inspiration behind “A Thrill of Hope”? To be honest, I struggled to find the right name. My husband, while offering clever and comical suggestions like “Redemption Wombs” (a play on his remodeling business name, Redemption Woods), didn’t quite hit the mark. He reminded me that, as with all things, time in prayer and patiently waiting would bring the right answer. As I spent time in worship, the theme of hope kept coming to mind. As the weeks and months passed, it was soon December and Advent was upon is.
As the season of Advent approached, I reflected on the season’s purpose- patiently waiting for the birth of a Savior, the King of Kings. The lyric “a thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices” resonated deeply. Why is Advent exciting? What can bring a weary world to rejoice? Our Savior! He has been born! Rejoice!
This felt especially meaningful because my husband and I both had been repeatedly drawn to passages from Isaiah. When we actively seek God, His affirmations are clear. God has a sovereign plan. We’ve seen it unfold through history and we see it unfold in our daily lives- this is a source of hope. Just as a new baby sparks excitement for the future, we are called to move past the fear of birth and place our hope in God.
Becoming parents means discipling our children, and this starts during pregnancy. So let’s begin this journey together—get equipped to climb the mountain of becoming a parent and draw near to God. As you learn more about the birth process, I pray you discover more about God’s character and who He created you to be. What could be more thrilling?

And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the greatness of his government and peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the Lord Almighty
will accomplish this.
Isaiah 9:6-7 NIV
